Shaped by the North of Portugal

“The Largo is built on a spirit of genuine hospitality and craft, and our food program reflects those values in everything we do — from the smallest detail in a pastry to the conversation around a shared table.”
Nuno Mendes, F&B Creative Director

Deeply Rooted in Tradition

At The Largo, food is about care. It begins with the landscapes and traditions of northern Portugal and grows through the people who cook here, the ingredients we trust, and the memories that shape how we eat. These roots give us meaning and guide everything we bring to the table.

We make things slowly and with intention. Bread is baked each morning. Viennoiseries are folded by hand. Ice creams, stocks, and preserves are made in-house with quiet attention to detail. There is no shortcut to comfort, and there is no substitute for something made from scratch.

The menu follows the seasons, but it also responds to curiosity. A dish might come from something tasted on a trip, or from a conversation with someone who joined us at the table. Our food is not about performance. It is about generosity, simplicity, and a sense of place that is both welcoming and alive.

Stories of Land, Culture, and Craft

The Largo’s wine programme was born from friendship and a shared love of discovery. Ivo and Gabriel had been making wine together long before the hotel opened. Their collaboration is built on trust, intuition, and a desire to share something personal with the people who come through our doors.

The list focuses on Portuguese wines, with particular attention to the North. We have spent years building relationships with small producers who work close to the land and bring deep integrity to their craft. Some are purists. Others take risks. All of them make wine with character and intention.

Our selections change often. We do not follow trends or deadlines. New bottles are added when they feel right, often after a long conversation or a meaningful visit. The list is a living record of the people we’ve met and the wines that moved us. Every bottle is chosen to offer more than taste. It brings a point of view, a memory, or a connection to something greater than itself.

"What we’ve built is more than just a wine list — it’s a record of the small producers and their journeys."
Ivo Granja, Head Sommelier
