At The Largo, the philosophy of bespoke curated experiences is rooted in fostering meaningful connections between guests and the rich tapestry of Porto’s culture.

The PORTO UNKNOWN SERIES has been created to offer an immersive and sophisticated exploration of the city’s heritage, with seasonal events throughout the year designed to celebrate Porto’s cultural legacy within the hotel.

The first of these took place on 22nd March, paying tribute to the timeless beauty of camellias, with a concert, an artistic installation, and an exclusive dinner on The Largo’s panoramic terrace.

Summer at The Largo: A journey through the Atlantic

This June, the Largo presents the second chapter of the Porto Unknown 2025 series – a summer celebration dedicated to seaweed, taking place on the 13th and 14th of month.

After honouring the camellia in a Spring programme that paid tribute to the city’s most emblematic flower, summer arrives with an invitation to turn our gaze to the Atlantic. Thoughtfully curated to reveal a more intimate, lesser-known side of Porto, this series celebrates the seasons through encounters with nature, art, and gastronomy.

This Summer, the quiet, ancient treasure of our coast – seaweed – takes centre stage.

14 June
Artistic Happening and Dinner at The Largo

As evening falls, the terrace at The Largo transforms into an intimate setting for a rare dining experience where seaweed is celebrated in every dish.

The exclusive menu for the night showcases ingredients that thrive in marine environments, including fish aged in seaweed and gently cooked over fire.

Highlights include a rich, brothy rice with plankton, and other dishes ranging from smoked goose barnacles on seaweed toast to a caramel and seaweed toffee that brings the evening to a close.

Dinner begins at 7pm, following a live art performance in the garden by graphic artist Tomás Dias, who transforms seaweed into unique visual compositions using traditional printmaking techniques.

A master of engraving and screen printing, Tomás Dias has been a teacher and workshop coordinator at the Árvore Artistic and Vocational School since 1984. He has trained generations of artists and collaborated with renowned figures such as Álvaro Siza Vieira, leaving an indelible mark on the recent history of printmaking in Portugal.

Reservations are now open.
