“The Largo is eighteen keys set across five heritage buildings…We always had in mind that we wanted this place to be a place of encounters”

Verena Fiori, General Manager

With sixteen suites and two double rooms, The Largo’s sleeping quarters offer a broad collection of atmospheres and facilities to best accommodate guests’ needs, peppered throughout the five historical buildings. Families might be inclined to choose one of the two penthouse duplexes, which have their own dining room and kitchen, or to utilise the generous combined space of “Casa” interconnecting suites. Lovers might like to end their days of exploring the city with a dip in the jacuzzi of the “Flor” suite, or hide out in the privacy of the Townhouse duplex — taking in 360-degree views of the city with their own private al fresco dining area. Each room has been crafted with careful consideration of the natural gifts of its position in the building, resulting in a natural sense of place.

The Largo is nestled in the corner of Largo de São Domingos, the beating heart in which several charming neighbourhoods converge and perched at the end of the vibrant, pedestrianised Rua das Flores.

Our concept is simple: meaningful connection with Portuense people and their culture.

We seek to create this connection through experience. Dedicating time to get to know our guests before their arrival and during their stay, we treat every visitor with the hospitality one might do when welcoming a dear friend into their family home.

Conceived as an elevated private residence, The Largo weaves together many spaces designed for people to enjoy the passing of time together. The terraço, which includes a terrace lounge area and infinity plunge-pool, the cloistered jardim courtyard and the homely lareira living room are all crafted for conviviality.

At The Largo, the philosophy of bespoke curated experiences is rooted in fostering meaningful connections between guests and the rich tapestry of Porto’s culture.

Since its inception in 2017, The Largo has been deeply engaged with Porto’s vibrant cultural communities, crafting experiences that provide a distinctive perspective on the region’s history, artistry, and abundant local produce.

For those who’d like to extend this approach beyond the walls of The Largo, we offer bespoke experience curation services, introducing them to our friends and favourite projects throughout the city of Porto and beyond.

By dedicating time to understand each guest’s interests and preferences, both prior to arrival and during their stay, we craft personalized journeys that transcend typical hospitality. This approach ensures that every visitor is treated with the warmth and consideration akin to welcoming a dear friend into one’s home. Whether through thoughtful details, special introductions, or unique gifts, The Largo’s commitment to authenticity and personalization allows guests to immerse themselves deeply in the local community, creating lasting memories that reflect the true spirit of Porto.

“The food and drink offering at The Largo is very much inspired by the ingredients, mostly from this area, the cooking traditions from the north of Portugal — focused on where we are. Opening ourselves to the city, not locking ourselves away.”

Nuno Mendes, Food and Beverage Creative Director

Menus throughout The Largo are unfussy, nourishing and playful, and are thoughtfully complemented by the more conceptual menus of Cozinha das Flores, the street-facing restaurant of the project, open to both house guests and the public alike. A restaurant inspired by the culinary traditions and ingredients of Northern Portugal, where Nuno Mendes and his team blend innovative and traditional techniques to create a distinctive dining experience. The pair are accompanied by a third sister, Flôr, a neighbourhood bar serving pastries and speciality coffee in the morning, and snacks and signature cocktails in the evening.

Perched at the very top of The Largo’s five historic buildings is the terraço lounge and kitchen. Reserved for the use of house guests and events, this space provides indoor and outdoor seating and dining with panoramic views of the cityscape. In this homely kitchen, Nuno and his team play at the intersection of Portuguese and global flavours, keeping the focus on local suppliers, seasonality, and simplicity.
