In the heart of Porto, The Largo is reimagining hospitality as more than accommodation.
In the heart of Porto, The Largo is reimagining hospitality as more than accommodation. It is a cultural platform where the city and its Northern region take centre stage.
At its core is a commitment to authenticity. Guests are invited to uncover the untold stories of Porto through encounters with its people, traditions, and places.

The Largo positions itself at the intersection between art, history, community, and experience.
Every detail, from architecture to partnerships with local artists and craftsmen is part of an intentional dialogue between tradition and innovation.
By extending its reach into the city and the region, The Largo becomes not only a house of discovery for travellers, but also a house of belonging for Porto itself.

To exemplify this, below follows a glimpse of what a 4–5-night stay experience journey can look like. In this example, we designed a journey for two couples, long-time friends, with an active lifestyle and sharp sensibility for the arts and culture, who are visiting our country for the first time. Therefore, we chose to explore key main angles that shape our region for wine and gastronomy, traditions and innovation through the crafts, as well as nature and wellbeing.

Day 1
Porto´s historical centreStart the journey with context. Join a friend historian, architect, or archaeologist for a curated stroll around the historical centre, where an overview of who we are will be shared through our history, architecture, and popular culture.
Thereafter, explore the Douro wines in Porto. The northern region of Portugal is famed for its world-class wines, especially from the UNESCO-listed Douro Valley. Yet, it was Porto that first carried these wines onto the world stage, as boats once set sail from its riverbanks loaded with the unique and celebrated Port wine.
With that in mind, we invite you to start your discovery of the city at its historical centre and riverbank. Spend the day with one of the most emblematic Portuguese wine families at their wine warehouse just across The Largo. We will take over the cellar and our chef will carefully prepare a wine pairing lunch for this exclusive occasion.
After this intense afternoon, if the energy lasts, we suggest you dine in another corner of the city, by the ocean. From relaxed to fine dining experiences, our recommendations fall into places where locals enjoy spending time.

Day 2
Our Arts and CultureTraditional formats of discovering a place don’t fulfil our promise of transformation and genuine connection to the local community.
We, therefore, designed a special site visit to the iconic Porto monument São Francisco church, just a short walk from The Largo, where you will be received by its heritage preservation specialist. The focus of the site visit to this stunning Gothic monument with breathtaking Baroque interiors is its lavish gilded woodwork (‘talha dourada’) that covers almost every surface.
After this introduction, back at your home of Porto, a gilded woodwork specialist will guide you through a casual session, where you will learn the art of applying the gold leaf to the wood, elaborating a unique art piece co-curated by yourself and a “slice” of The Largo.
Have a relaxing lunch over at the rooftop and take the afternoon open to the unexpected.
Dinne at a traditional favourite of ours, where local flavours and heartfelt cooking blends with relaxed atmosphere. Or, you might have the chance to catch one of our creative happenings occurring inhouse, which consist of signature curated experiences with local community for global audiences. These happenings are another format for meaningful connections, where artistic – gastronomic events converge tradition with innovation and locals with guests.

Day 3
Connecting with the Douro valley in a different way.On this day, we encourage you to embrace the unexpected and to see the landscape from a different perspective.
Our boat Riva M/Y will be the channel through which you will discover the vineyards and mountains of the Douro valley. Beyond a wine tasting, this experience onboard brings together the site and its history. Our sommelier will join you and introduce to some of the history behind this wine demarcated region, while giving a taste of its different terroirs. Wines and the Douro are at centre stage. Lunch moments are casually served alongside as the wine tasting unfolds.
It is also possible to visit an emblematic wine production estate, visit the vineyards and estate. Though, as this region offers more than world renowned wines, we suggest guests take the chance to learn more about its olive oil and get inspired by the timeless scenography of the Douro landscape.
